Presentation

Presentation

- Video

- Content

- Structure

- Slide assignment

- Testing .... new testing ?

- week planning

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Structure of the presentation.

- Introduction (two people)

- group, this is what want to focus on.

- Problem Statement (Take out the three main point in the problem statement) - Narrative Immersion

- spatial, emotional, temporal immersion

- Selective Interactivity

- what is it

- Narrative

- (constructed narrative)

- Interactivity VS. Immersion

- describe briefly where we can quote Raskin, Ryan, and all the other cleaver dudes :D

- Trailer

- 1-2 minutes, re-telol the story.... make it interesting.

- Production /creating an immersive narrative (four people )

- Script/ Style (how it is told... handheld(immersion) steady cam(interactivity))

- inspiration (cloverfield, quarantine, myth because it can be real, curiosity to know more, monsters quickly triggers curiosity, ATTENTION GRABBER), different choses relating to narrative immersion and interactivity.

- Have a screen shot from cloverfield (roof explosion) screen shot from Quarantine() screen shot from survivor man (one mans journey, in a short movie you should limit the amount of characters, RASKIN)

- one mans journey, link to narrative immersion(emotional immersion(close-up shots)) and Raskin.

- contain different locations (atmosphere), link to spatial immersion

- Cause and effects, (the goal, pursuing his goals), link to temporal immersion.

- interactivity feature, carries a additional camera.

- the story had to support extra content that could supplement the story in an interacting and natural way(basing it on the myth)

- Creature

- Planning / purpose

- planning well in order to succeed,

- Motion capture.

- inspiration (Gollum) because of that, we had to create our own motions data.

- Additional pictures of camilla in a suite.. emphasize on the fact that we did it. picture (milla vs. crature(maya model)) video with the marker data.

- Creature appearance / suspense ...

- we wanted to spark curiosity (link to temporal immersion - suspense pattern ).

- limit the amount of visual effects surrounding the creature. (MAKE SURE THAT WE MAKE IT CLEAR THAT WE DID A HELL OF A WORK)

- making climate more intense (scary)(link to temporal immersion)

- Visual effects (emotional and spatial immersion) (setting the mood, making it believable)

Kolla - Colour corrections. Describing the steps of the colour correction and the reasoning behind it (show pictures from the original to final) Day- Evening -night- night vision.

Dann - match moving... reasoning .... because of the japan myth and climbers what is needed to do, hard because of much movement, what we did (small video showing Raw footage - mountains with and without markers - with markers. (Link to spatial immersion)

Milla - Creature compositing

- video camilla with a stick pushing the bag and the final clip

Milla - final scene. with the original and the final.

Kolla - scene 11. it is there because that reminds the viewer that there is another camera (interactive version).. but it fits naturally for the non- interactive viewers it has interesting event in it .... how that is made with the small screen in the camera .... show the original with the green screen and the final one.

-Show a good planing of the production, acting without the thing happening in the scene.

Miksa - Audio (the finishing touch)

- Cleaning the audio, how that relates to the spatial immersion(atmosphere)

- creature has to come alive on the screen .... Believable

- interactive feature ()

- why we chose the different feature. for what reason, (Link it to Narrative Immersion)

- steady camera, adding topographical understanding (spatial immersion)

- Map, adding topographical understanding (spatial immersion)

- pictures, founding peters motivation/goal to document creatures existence ()

- Police report, understanding the plot in the short ()

- Articles, understanding the pot in the short ()

- videos (youtube), founding peters motivation/goal to document creatures existence.

- it is not clear in the pre-analyses why we went for this kind of interactivity.

- why not ergodic

because .......

- why not productive.....

because you can´t do that with live actors, (it is basically up to you what you want should happen. )

- Testing (two people testing and conclusion)

- How to test it.

- test results (What is interesting)

- reflections

- why did we not use the quantitative data....?

- Conclusion

- things that are covered in the reflections, what we achieved, the problem statement result.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Week planing.

- Not do a new testing .... Rather go through our testing and conclude better... maybe go into detail with some of the participants when they use the interactive feature.....

- reasoning the decision for not doing a testing.....

- Meet on monday the 15th.. 11:00 (presentation has to be done, content ready)

- Meet on Thursday the 11th .. 09:00 .... Read the testing, discussion, conclusion and the testing part in the analyses. (insert the relevant test result and reflections

- READ the report BEFORE MONDAY the 15th.....

- Tuesday, put to gather a trailer, and the about the project "movie"

Trailer

- 1-2 minutes.

- The trailer should be just about the movie.

- Hollywood stile

- content

- scenes from the movie ....

- key events.

for the project video.

- wood.

- motion capture (pictures).

- screen recording from Maya...

- the layer ...show the final ... and end with the raw footage.

- Miksa ....sound for the trailer.

- Kolla and Milla... trailer

- Dann ...prepare the project trailer

Feedback on the questions for testing

I don't have the file with all the questions, but have a look through them when you get it from Dann and then you can read through some of the comments and discussion I had with Sofia below.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Is it stated in the testing analyze that we are doing the immersion test according to attention. Many questions are directed to attention of different sorts. Does attention to detail = immersion. So all the interactive users are more immersed since they have access to more detail and can say more?

Try to do a semi pilot on a know movie to get some multiple choice questions.
See what different answers someone could give on the questions we've made. Eg. on the question of "What is Peter's objective?" People could say complete different things or even ask who is Peter. How can these answers be categorized then with so few test participants.

Good idea with having the paper plane or alike happening in the background while the participant is watching the movie. Have that as the first question in the interview, about if they saw something else happening around them while watching, such as the making of the paper plane. But don't lead them to the answer. Then ask if the movie fulfilled their expectations so we know their background.

Look into the question about if they thought there were any missing elements... try to lead them in to those things, were they forgiving on places were they could have been thrown off track?

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This were the main things we talked about. I'll tell u more when we meet up tomorrow!

supervisor meeting 29.04.2009

- A bit low of references ... pre-analyses.

- argue pretty well about interactivity .... and that work well

- we need a reason why we are doing this ....

- we need to connect the these part together .. immersion and interactivity

- the motivation part is missing...... introduction ....

-The reasoning MISSING. why should the reader be interested in this.

-rap each section up what we are looking at.

- for the interaction part,,, what does this project give to the user, comparing to the others projects that have been done...

- introduction

interactive movies, immersion, narratology

- WHY DO WE NEED THIS::::::::: WHY IS THIS INTERACTIVE IMMERSION MOVIE NEEDE

-Start with Why we are doing this in the introduction.

- easter egg in matrix... DANN

- send soffia what we have on friday ...

- immersion and interactivity .... are they to short .... are they understandable ... don´t make the impression that we only read 2 books .... remember references ...

- see saw the problem statement ... and her comment was do you really want to test all the aspects of narrative immersion .....???????????

- need to find out how to test the emotional, spacial, and temporal immersion, how is this going to be affected ....

-limit the problem statement to LIMITED TIME......

-reachers ....for a location to test ...people that are interested or can spend 30 min .
